FSA is thrilled to announce the newest addition to our Board of Directors, Allison Quintanilla Plattsmier. Allison is a renowned nonprofit professional. She holds multiple advanced degrees, including her most recently acquired Doctorate of Business Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University. Allison also has a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.), and is pursuing a law degree. During her time as a doctoral candidate, she researched the relationship between nonprofit capacity, financial efficiency, and collective impact on Middle Tennessee nonprofits. Her research explores a phenomenon called “nonprofit starvation cycle,” which is a pitfall that many nonprofits experience as they strive to keep their overhead low in order to attract and appease donors, resulting in diminished ability to have an impact on the community on which they strive to support. In other words, many nonprofits are afraid to spend money on infrastructure, and in doing so, they can’t help as many people. Allison’s unique insight into the economic landscape of nonprofits in Middle Tennessee will be extremely valuable to the FSA board as our organization grows.
Allison is a true warrior for nonprofits, and has helped elevate many organizations in Middle Tennessee through her consulting firm, AQP Consulting. Allison has been a consultant for FSA since 2020. During that time, FSA has improved its financial model and fundraising initiatives, which resulted in greater organizational stability, and breathing room in the budget to expand our group class offerings for teens and advanced students. Allison also serves as Executive Director of ENP (Empowering Neighborhood Partnerships), a nonprofit that oversees three programs: The Spot, an after school program, The FreeStore, a community co-op that provides neighbors with access to free household items, and an affordable housing advocacy program. Through her work, she has received many accolades, such as Nashville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, Top 50 Under 50 Executive Leaders, National Latino Leader, and AFP’s Outstanding Young Fundraising Professional.
Aside from holding many degrees and possessing an incredible skill set as a professional, Allison is also mother to three young children, and was a Suzuki student as a child! We are honored to have such a knowledgeable, empathetic, and passionate member on our board. Welcome, Allison!
