FSA is excited to offer high-quality Suzuki cello instruction for ages 3 and up with Heather Harris. Heather has extensive experience in teaching and Suzuki pedagogy and is certified for Suzuki cello books 1-10.

Each student will participate in a weekly private lesson, which focuses on specific skill development, and a group class, where students review repertoire, learn musicianship, and experience the joy of playing with their peers. Group classes are an integral part of the Suzuki curriculum, so participation in both private and group classes is required.

Success in Suzuki study, especially in the early stages, is predicated upon active participation of the parent. A parent attends every lesson with the child and serves as an active partner in the learning process at home between lessons.

Students have regularly scheduled performance opportunities throughout the year: one formal solo recital, one all-school group recital (with guitars) with an awards ceremony at the end of the year, and fun community events such as performances at the Nashville Sounds Baseball game, retirement homes, fairs & festivals. Students also have the option of participating in our Chamber Music Program.

Our unique program is structured to enable us to teach the very youngest of beginners all the way through advanced students who have graduated from the Suzuki repertoire. Students learn to play with balanced posture, beautiful tone and pitch even at the beginning stages of learning.

Heather is currently accepting students as young as 3 years old and teaches all levels from beginning through advanced students.
