The Violin & Viola program at FSA is team-taught by our three violin instructors: Andra Prewett, Sarah Mitchell and Annalise Ohse. The teachers work together very closely to develop a uniform teaching curriculum by sharing teaching strategies learned over a combined total of 56 years of teaching experience!
Each student is assigned a private instructor who will work carefully with the parent and the child once a week, to coordinate the weekly practice assignments. The student will also be assigned a group class based on age and skill level, so the child will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in private lesson in a fun, safe peer environment. Group classes are an integral part of the Suzuki curriculum, so participation in both private and group class is required.
Students have regularly scheduled performance opportunities throughout the year: one formal solo recital, one all-school group recital (with guitars) with an awards ceremony at the end of the year, and fun community events such as performances at the Nashville Sounds Baseball game, retirement homes, fairs & festivals.
Our unique program is structured to enable us to teach the very youngest of beginners all the way through advanced students who have graduated from the Suzuki repertoire. Students learn to play with balanced posture, beautiful tone and pitch even at the beginning stages of learning.
